Notes

Alan Cole
15th Century Illuminated Manuscript leaf, in Syriac and Aramaic on Vellum. A rare complete manuscript leaf probably from the 15th Century. The Syriac is written in large Serto (Western Syriac) script on one side; on the other side the text is in Aramaic. The Syriac script consists of 20 lines in both red and brown inks, with a decorative head piece in colour. The Aramaic script is written in two columns, also in black and brown inks. This leaf measures approximately 6.75 x 9 inches. It is very likely that it was written in Jerusalem. Edges have been closely trimmed. The leaf appears to have been treated with some kind of oil for the purpose of preservation. Slightly soiled, otherwise in very good condition.
