Book of Hours - manuscript by a female scribe. Written on meticulously-prepared clean white vellum with virtually no colour difference between the hair and the skin sides. Recto: 22 lines of Dutch text in a Gothic bookhand in red and black inks with capitals in blue or red. Text capitals touched in red. Text written between 2 verticals and 22 horizontals ruled in grey. Verso: 22 lines of Dutch text in black ink, text capitals touched in red.
This leaf is an example of the beautifully written leaves produced at the Augustinian Convent of St. Agnes in Delft. This particular text contains text from the hours of the Virgin of Utrecht, prayers for the Hours of All Saints. c. 1450.
