[Translation]
I am reopening the enclosed which I did not have the opportunity to send you in the ordinary way [appears to be an error here]. Longhena having returned from the country advises me that he has received your letter and he sends me a small parcel of books for you and another [?] which I will send on there at the first opportunity. Stella with whom he was negotiating (regarding) your translation advises me that Fanfani has at last published - Edgworth - Moral stories for children - 2 volumes in 16 with [indec] Lit.6. If this is the same work translated by you as we suppose it would, to our real regret, it would discourage us from completing the negotiations for your manuscript. In the Datelli business you will be able to clarify the matter [indec]. Meanwhile I remain always

G. Rencati.

Milan 7 March 1827.

Notes

Alan Cole
G. Resnati. I can find nothing about him except that he was a correspondent of Prof. Montani and he had a bookshop in Milan. This was my longest research for one name that I could not read properly and took about four hours.

Giuseppe di Lorenzo Montani (1789-1833) was an Italian priest, philosopher and man of letters.
