Notes

Alan Cole
First thought to be part of a flintlock mechanism, but it is too small and now said to be a bronze Roman writing nib, of the type found near Hadrian's Wall. This nib was found in Germany and that is how the seller described it. The nib could be mounted on a wooden handle but also could possibly be worn and used as a finger nib. The status and nature of this item is still contentious because of its unusual end.
