Alan Cole - I was approached by The daughter of the late Mrs Winifred Appleton to see if we were interested in acquiring her mother's inkwell collection, which she had said should go to a museum . Of course, I immediately said 'Yes'! After a short delay, as the collection had originally been donated to a Cornish museum who eventually could not accept it, the inkwell collection was delivered to the me at the University of London. Even I was amazed at the number, variety and quality of the inkwells, which form a major part of the whole MOWRC collection for research, information and general interest.
